Obituary of James Eldon Roosa

James Eldon Roosa died from cancer Oct. 10 at the Veterans Affairs Nursing Home in Fort Thomas.

The Anderson Township resident was 71.

Mr. Roosa was born in Maineville and raised in Morrow. He quit high school at age 16 and joined the Navy, serving from 1945-49 and then 1950-52. During World War II, he served on the USS Passumpsic and the USS Metomkin.

For the next 35 years, he was a truck driver, most of the time using his own truck and for a short time driving for Schwermann Tank Lines. From 1990 to 1997 he owned Mount Carmel Vegetable Stand on Old Ohio 74.

The American Legion and the VFW occupied much of Mr. Roosa's time away from work, fishing and hunting.

Survivors are a sister, Betty Kuhl of Anderson Township; and a brother, Donald E. Roosa of Iota, La.

Services have been held. Burial was at Graceland Memorial Cemtery's veterans garden in Milford.
