Obituary of William Richard Myers

William “Bill” Richard Myers, age 92, of Chanute, KS passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016 in Chanute. Bill was born on February 8 1924 in Altoona, KS the son of Jerry and Clara Marie (Baughn) Myers.

On July 27, 1944, Bill was joined in marriage with the love of his life Ellen Louise Crowl who preceded him in death on November 23, 1994.

Bill served his country on the Pacific front during WWII driving amphibious vehicles for the Marines in Guam and Okinawa. He was a handyman who enjoyed trying new things. He worked many jobs including NuWa and Advanced System Home. He was the founder of multiple businesses including Peter Pan Ice Cream Store and in the 1970’s, Myers Generator, which he operated for many years. In his spare time he liked to be outdoors.

Bill is survived by: Sons: Rick Myers and wife Diane of Humboldt, KS, Bobby Myers and wife Alice of Humboldt, KS; Daughters: Susan Roberson and husband Don of Derby, KSm Christy Reeves and husband Don of Chanute, KS; Sisters: Geraldine Mahan, Patsy Welch; 12 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 21 Great-Great Grandchildren

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ellen, a daughter: Nancy Wilson; a great grandson: Brandon Coble; 2 brothers: Marion and Harold Myers; 2 Sisters: Verna and Betty Jean.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Countryside Funeral Home, Gibson Chapel in Chanute. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 5-7 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Altoona Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
