Obituary of Erma L. Glass Hubbell

Erma (Glass) Hubbell, 96, of Leland, died Thursday at Bortz Health Care of Traverse City.

Born Sept. 12, 1903, in Jeffersonville, Ohio, she was the daughter of James Franklin and Edith Mae (Bush) Glass. In June 1933 She married Phillip Hubbell, who preceded her in death on July 3, 1984.

Erma graduated from Miami Unversity in Oxford, Ohio, and was an elementary school teacher in Xenia, Ohio and Beaver Creek, Ohio. She was a member of teh Church of Christ and an organist for manyyears at Beaver Reformed Church in Beaver Creek. She was also a member of Green County Historical Society and Beaver Creek Wetlands Association. Erma loved traveling and traveled extensively with her husband. She also enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by two nieces and two nephews, Charmaigne (Clayton) Cox, Lynn Ellen (Charles) Stauffer, Michael (Kathy) Glass and Larry (Elizabeth) Glass; seven great-nieces and nephews; and 12 great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Harold and Lauris Glass.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the McColaugh Funeral Home in Xenia. funeral services will follow immediately at the funeral home.
