Obituary of Floyd Eugene Walston

Floyd Eugene Walston Sr., 81, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012.

He was born Monday, July 14, 1930, in Petersburg, Kentucky, son of the late Ivan and Dora (Ryle) Walston he was the oldest of 12 children.

He was a partner in Draper Plumbing and Heating. Floyd retired from Schenley Industries as a copper smith. He was the owner/operator of Grand Recreation, Inc., a longtime restaurant in downtown Aurora. He owned the Walston Trailer Park until 1994.

Floyd was an avid fisherman and card player. Floyd was one of the first waterskiers in the area and orchestrated ski shows on the Ohio River, which included pulling 7 skiers behind his powerful cabin cruiser. Floyd himself rode atop an 8ft step ladder which was attached to a saucer where he would turn around and around on while the boat pulled him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Iris Jean; 3 sons, David (Cathy) Walston, Gary (Wanda) Walston, and Floyd "Tinker" Walston; daughter, Connie Cummins; 6 grandhildren, Andrea (Kris) Denney, Ryan (Angie) Walston, Julia Cummins, Joel Cummins, Mindy (BJ) Scott, and Michelle (Mike) Workman; 8 great grandchildren, Chase, Cadence, Matthew, Mitchell, Rylee, Blaine, Averie, and Kenley; 3 brothers, WS, Wayne, and Billy Walston; 2 sisters, Barbara Walston, and Donna Rogers; and close family friend, Debbie Walston.

He was preceded in death by his son, Clint Walston; 4 brothers, Marvin, Cecil, Richard, and Jerry Walston; and 2 sisters, Betty Chalk, and Mary Sue Cochran.

Family and friends will be received Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 4pm to 8pm at the Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Greendale, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11am.

Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana.
