The Baughn Family

Lela “Evon” Weaver, 91, beloved mother and friend passed away on July 13, 2015 at The Monroe Place in Bloomington, Indiana where she had lived the past three years.

Evon was born on October 29, 1923 in Rose Hill, Illinois. She was the daughter of Hiram and Mary Agnes Tracy. The wife of a military serviceman, she married John William Weaver on October 26, 1957. She and her husband lived in many parts of the world until returning to settle in Brown County. While raising two children she became interested in politics and accepted a job with the Brown County Treasurer and was later voted for and served two terms as Treasurer from 1981 through 1989. She also enjoyed cooking and baking and along with her husband opened a café in Nashville serving homemade soups, sandwiches and desserts. A woman of devout faith she was a dedicated member of St. Agnes Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who will all remember her for her spunkiness.

Evon is survived by her daughter; Brigitte Evon Andrews (David Broome) of Columbus and her son John “Richard” Weaver of Bloomington, grandchildren; Morgan Andrews, Malachi Weaver and MacKenzie Broome, great-grandchildren; Wyatt Taylor and Kayleigh Spears. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and two brothers.

A Memorial Mass, conducted by Father Eric Augenstein and Sister Eileen Flavin, is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. September 19, 2015, with a luncheon to follow, at St. Agnes Church, 1008 McLary Road, Nashville. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until time of mass. All are welcome to come and celebrate her life.
