Obituary of Beulah Brown

LANCASTER: Beulah (Birmingham) Brown, 96 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 at Homestead Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Warren County, Ohio to the late Fred and Roba Birmingham.

She was a retired elementary school teacher with 32 years of service in Ohio schools. She supervised student teachers for Ashland College, Ashland, Ohio, Bowling Green University, Bowling Green Ohio and Ohio University, Athens, Ohio.

Beulah wa a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Ohio, active member of the Theta Delta Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was honored by the Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in American Education. A member of the Ohio and Fairfield County Chapter of Ohio Retired Teachers, Kappa DElta Pi an international for Women Educators, Lancaster Chapter of the American Association of University Women, The Clionian Literary Club, The Knights Templar Ladies Club, Thea Court #5 Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America and Mary Chapter #9 Ohio Eastern Star 50 year member.

She was a volunteer for Olivedale Senior Citizens Center Meals on Wheels, Lancaster-Fairfield County District Library and Lancaster-Fairfield Medical Center with 21 years of service.

Beulah is survived by her nieces Sharon (Thomas) Curtis of Martinsville, Ohio, Vicki (David) Appleman of Wilmington, Ohio and Christine (Bennie) Branham of Circleville, Ohio; great-nieces and great-nephews, Christopher (Jennifer) Custis, Danica (Tony) Sherrock, Nicole (Rob) Hull and Nikki Appleman; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Robert D. Collier, Hailey Appleman, Christopher Custis Jr., Elizabeth Custis, JOnathan Custis, Zachary Sharrock, Lauren Sharrock, Tyler Chisman and Samantha Hull.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Dale Brown; parents; brother, Dencil Birmingham and great-nephew, Robert Collier.

Euneral service will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 NORTH COLUMBUS STREET, LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Rev. Cheryl Foulk officiating.

Friends may visit two hours prior the service at the funeral home on Thursday. A graveside service will be held Friday,August 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilimington, Ohio.

Memorial gifts may be given to the First United Methodist Church, 163 East Wheeling Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130 in her memory.
