Around 1830, Henry Baughn and his son, Zachariah, gave a plot of land for the establishment of the Sugar Creek Baptist Church. This church is still active today, and many members of the Baughn family are buried in the Sugar Creek Baptist Cemetery.

He served in the war of 1812 as a private in Wm Wilson's com. of the Ohio Malitia, from Aug 1 to Sept 9, 1812. Pg 15, Roster of Ohio Soldiers.
